MANVILLE: Police blotter, week of May 7-13

   At 10:31 a.m. May 7 a John Street man said a neighbor was throwing rocks and breaking windows on his property. Police confirmed rear screen and garage windows were broken.

   At 2:22 p.m. May 7 Detective Craig Jeremiah reported a burglary and theft on Friday, April 27, on South 9th Avenue. Missing was jewelry, value unknown. An investigation was to continue.

   County communications reported that mosquito commission employees found a fishing pole, vest and fishing license unattended by the Millstone River at 1:06 p.m. May 8. A West Camplain Road man was called to pick up them up at headquarters.

   A Somerville Avenue woman said at 5:19 p.m. her boyfriend’s brother, from Plainfield, took items of hers when he removed items he had stored at her residence. Missing was a table (valued at $300), two keys and her boyfriend’s driver’s license. An investigation was begun.

   A South 21st Avenue caller reported at 7:19 p.m. May 8 that there was someone in his neighbor’s garage, which was damaged by fire on April 21. Patrols found an unoccupied running generator. Fire official Pat Renaldi advised police to turn it off and said he would follow up with the construction official.
   Two days later at 6:19 p.m., police received another call that someone might be staying in the garage. Patrols said no one was there, but the generator was running for the pool filter.

   A Gladys Avenue caller said he had closed his garage door about 5 p.m. May 8 and found it open at 9:46. Police checked the garage with the man, finding nothing missing.

   An Adesa Auto Auction employee reported a five-car crash inside the detailing building at 7 a.m. May 9. One car, driven by Wilver Aenriquec, 24, of North Plainfield, allegedly hit four parked cars. He and three other men, ages 31, 46 and 29, were taken to Somerset Medical Center.

   An Alexander Batcho Intermediate School eighth grader reported he had been hit by his father, school employees told police at 12:43 p.m. May 9. Police confirmed the incident and reported to DYFS.

   Sgt. Jeffery Petrone told a group of skateboarders and scooter riders to stay out of the street, and removed a skateboard rail from the road, at 3:38 p.m. May 9. At 4:33 p.m. the officer issued helmet summonses to two boys, 13 and 14, on Louis Street.

   A Boesel Avenue woman reported at 8:25 p.m. May 9 that a bird was tangled in the blinds inside the house. Patrols responded and said that she had opened the window and let the bird out.

   At 9:20 p.m. May 10 a road department employee reported illegal dumping of garbage on Lincoln Avenue.

* * *

   A South 17th Avenue man came to headquarters at 7:36 p.m. May 10 to report the theft of $400 from his residence. He named a suspect. An investigation was begun.

   A Brooks Boulevard man called at noon May 11 to say his 22-year-old son was receiving threatening remarks over Facebook from an individual in Middlesex Borough. The son was given a citizen’s complaint form, and police spoke with the accused, who said the information would be taken off the web site.

   Adesa Auto Auction reported at 1 p.m. May 11 having a recovered stolen 2006 Dodge pickup. Police sent out teletypes.

   A caller at 3:09 p.m. May 11 said two boys were throwing rocks at street lights on Valerie Drive. Police checked it out and found the boys gone.

* * *

   Police asked five senior citizens protestors in front of Planned Parenthood on South Main Street to move to the other side of the street at 1 p.m. Saturday. They complied.

   Firefighters were called to an open burn in the back yard of an Onka Street address at 8:20 p.m. Saturday.

* * *

   At 8:52 p.m. Saturday a woman who wanted to remain anonymous turned in at headquarters a black bifold wallet with $24 in cash and an Immaculata High School ID. Police were to call the school on Monday.

   Zachery Miller, 18, of Belle Mead, was arrested for DWI at 2:16 a.m. Sunday, after being stopped by Patrolman Ryan Steier on South Greasheimer Street. Mr. Miller was released to his father and the vehicle towed.

   Police found a parked New York-registered vehicle with damage on Washington Avenue at 3 a.m. Sunday. Patrols confirmed a broken left rear window and dent to the left side of the hood. The owner lives on Staten Island.

   A caller at 1:48 p.m. Sunday reported losing her small change purse with her driver’s license, credit cards and cash, possibly at St. Mary’s the previous day at bingo.

* * *

   A caller said a mounted coyote was standing in the road in front of a Garry Street address at 5 p.m. Sunday. Patrols removed it.

* * *

   A caller reported a disorderly man at La Cascade restaurant at 10:33 p.m. Sunday. Janusz Praszek, 55, of Hillsborough was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. He was ultimately taken to Somerset Medical center to be treated for intoxication. About two hours later Sgt. Paul Meixner reported injuring his thumb while making the arrest.

   Patrolman Ryan Steier checked a suspicious vehicle with two men in it at 4:15 a.m. Monday. Daniel Devino, 26, of North 3rd Avenue was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle. He was released to a friend.
