PRINCETON: Farmers Market opens

By Victoria Hurley-Schubert, Staff Writer
The smell of sweet, ripe strawberries wafted through the air as shoppers bustled from booth to booth on the first day of the season at the Princeton Farmers Market.
During the lunch hour on Thursday, the tables on Hinds Plaza outside the Princeton Public Library were filled with diners and shoppers.
”I came for everything. The market is my favorite thing in Princeton after the library,” said Kathy Kinsolving of Lawrence, as she sampled jams from market newcomer, Hillsborough-based Jams by Kim.
This year 21 booths will pop up each Thursday, said Judith Robinson, market manager.
”Pepople are excited we’re back outdoors and starting the season again,” said Tannwen Mount of Lawrence-based Terhune Orchards as she tried to keep her display table stocked with quarts of ripe, red strawberries.
New is the Jammin’ Crepes booth, where Princeton Township resident Kim Rizk and Princeton Borough resident Kathy Klockenbrink could barley keep up with the lunchtime crowd.
