WEST AMWELL: Country fair set Saturday

   WEST AMWELL — On Saturday (May 19) from 4-9 p.m., area residents will “Celebrate West Amwell” at a Country Fair at the Municipal Complex, 150 Rocktown-Lambertville Road.
   Members of Boy Scout Troop 49 are being featured and the fair will conclude with the scouts doing a flag retirement ceremony.
   Anyone having old flags ready for retirement should bring them to the fair.
   There will be games (such as donut eating and egg throwing), several animal exhibits and presentations, candle making, a plant presentation, and the ever popular cake walks, and hand cranked ice-cream making.
   Throughout the day there will be tractor and wagon rides, horseshoe pitching contests, pony rides, lazar pitching, the Taz Game, face painting, old time spinning, hooking, and candle making, steer roping and scouting activities.
   A new game invented by local inventor, Bill Gill, called “Sling Nine,” will be featured.
   There also will be opportunities to meet and greet new police officers and many municipal volunteers.
   In addition, there will be ongoing music by DJ, Mike Haldeman, and the “Phase 3” Band.
   There will be lots of food available from the South Hunterdon FFA Alumni, the West Amwell Fire Company Auxiliary, and Bill & Bernie’s Reubens.
   Township Committee members are donating free birch beer.

   — 4:30 p.m., Egg Throwing Contest and Goat Presentation;
   — 5 p.m., Cake Walk and Alpaca Presentation;
   — 5:30 p.m., Donut Eating Contest, FFA Ice Cream Making and Chicken Presentation;
   — 6 p.m., Marshmallow Catching in Mouth Contest and Holcombe-Jimison Presentation;
   — 6:30 p.m., Calf Presentation and Cake Walk;
   — 6:45-8:45 p.m., Music by “Phase 3” Band;
   — 7 p.m., Milk Paint Craft and Plant Presentation;
   — 7:30 p.m., Relay Races and Rabbit Presentation;
   —8 p.m., Cake Walk, Scavenger Hunt and Sheep Presentation;
   —8:30 p.m., Gather by field for patriotic medley by band;
   — 8:45 p.m., Flag retirement ceremony by Boy Scout Troop 49, West Amwell.
