The East Brunswick motorcyclist hit by a car Thursday afternoon on Amwell Road, Hillsborough, died from his injuries later in the evening, according to Hillsborough Township police.
Gregory Gentile, 27, had been flown by State Police medical evacuation helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick following the collision between Mr. Gentile’s Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle and a Chrysler LeBaron driven by Joseph Kuhta, 79, of Bridgewater, police said.
The collision occurred about 4:30 p.m. on Amwell Road just east of the Nelson’s Corner Shopping Center, and it closed Amwell Road from Route 206 to Willow Road for about three hours.
Police said Mr. Kuhta had just pulled out of the shopping center and collided with the motorcycle, also traveling east on Amwell Road in the inside lane.
Mr. Kuhta was taken by the rescue squad to Robert Wood Johnson, too. There was no word on his condition.
The crash is still under investigation, police said. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call the township police at 908-369-4323.
