By VolunteerConnect
May 21, 2012, Princeton, NJ n The Board of Trustees of VolunteerConnect, the premier volunteer center in Central New Jersey, announced today the appointment of Princeton resident, Amy Klein as Executive Director.
“We are very excited to have a woman of Amy’s talent and passion lead our revitalized mission to help community organizations achieve their goals through effective volunteering,” said Board Chair Robin Fogel.
VolunteerConnect helps organizations enhance their capacity by improving volunteer management through education and connecting organizations to volunteers and board members that have critical professional skills and training. The organization’s two primary programs are SkillsConnect and LeadershipConnect.
The SkillsConnect program, which matches a person’s professional expertise or passion with the needs of a non-profit or community organization, is vital to expanding the reach, impact and capacity of community organizations.
“Many volunteers find using their own education and training an especially rewarding experience, Fogel noted. “Amy has already been involved in launching SkillsConnect and will champion skills-based volunteering as the perfect way to match the talents of an individual to the many needs of community organizations. It is a true win-win situation for everyone.”
The LeadershipConnect program provides wide-ranging training and professional development in volunteer management to nonprofit leaders to help them effectively recruit, utilize, retain and recognize volunteers, including board members.
“Amy has the experience and enthusiasm to lead the direction of the organization,” Fogel noted. “She is deeply connected to our community and a great advocate for volunteerism both personally and professionally.”
Ms. Klein, a UCLA graduate, and California native, has broad non-profit and volunteer experience. She recently worked extensively in development for Princeton Senior Resource Center, where she began as a Brunch at Home committee volunteer. Klein has donated countless hours of volunteer work throughout her life, from single day beach clean-up events, to skills-based work, such as planning fundraising galas. She touts her parents as her inspiration for stressing the importance of volunteering and giving back to the community.
“My parents always had me involved in their charitable activities and I was able to see at a young age that giving back to the community not only made a difference in other people’s lives, but in mine, as well. Given my career and life experience, I am tremendously excited to lead VolunteerConnect and heighten its impact in central New Jersey.”
Founded in 1988, VolunteerConnect’s mission is to enrich the lives of Central New Jersey residents by promoting effective volunteerism and service.
