HILLSBOROUGH: Police pick up 5-foot snake

Hillsborough police plucked a 5-foot snake from the top of a sewer grate on the corner of Williamsburg Drive and Wexford Place on Tuesday at 12:32 p.m.
One officer identified it as a nonvenomous ball python, known for a calm temperament and often kept as a house pet. That led to the theory it may have been released by an owner who no longer wanted it.
Officers took the snake to headquarters where it was held until animal control picked it up.
