LAMBERTVILLE — A $63,000 bond ordinance for maintenance work on municipal properties was adopted by a unanimous vote of the City Council Monday night, Clerk Cindy Ege said.
Work in the police station and city clerk’s office, plus a generator and an oil tank removal is included.
Read aloud at the council meeting was a proclamation honoring Keziah Donnocker Groth-Tuft, for winning the highest award for a Girl Scout, the Gold Award.
A resident of Lambertville and the daughter of Charlie Groth and Dan Tuft, she is a third-generation Girl Scout in her family.
The proclamation notes that many members of her family do much volunteer work with the Girl Scouts. Keziah will receive her award at a ceremony on June 3.
The city is ready to buy a refurbished garbage truck now that council has OK’d a resolution awarding a $55,000 bid for the truck to the American Hose and Hydraulic Company.
Another resolution authorized the issuance, for $500 each, of two taxi licenses to Fernando Cruz-Perez of Lambertville taxi. The licenses are valid through the end of 2012. The $500 annual fee on each will be prorated.
Also read Monday was a proclamation on the Mayors Wellness Campaign, which urges all city residents to live in as healthy manner as possible — with proper diet and exercise.
The proclamation states that 55 percent of New Jersey residents are overweight or obese and that medical costs of treating obesity in this state run into the billions of dollars annually.
