Lt. Stephen J. Bartzak, commanding officer, West Amwell Township Police Department, reported:
— On May 9 at approximately 12:37 a.m., police checked on a disabled vehicle on Route 518 near Corsalo Road. The vehicle was stopped in the eastbound lane. Patrolman Jeffrey Jones saw a bag on suspected marijuana on the seat between the driver and passenger. The driver Adam Heburn, 19, and the passenger, Andrew Applegate, 18, both of Ringoes, were taken into custody. Both individuals were found to have additional small amounts of suspected marijuana in their possession. They were processed, charged with possession of suspected marijuana under 50 grams and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Mr. Hepburn also was issued a motor vehicle summons for obstructing traffic. Both were released on their own recognizance.
— On May 14 at approximately 9:09 a.m., patrols went to a reported two-vehicle accident on Route 179 just north of Old York Road. Janet Uetz, 53, of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, was driving north in the right lane when she slowed to a stop due to a vehicle turning left into a private drive directly in front of her. David Stokes Jr., 31, of Lambertville, who was operating a pickup truck owned by Professional Landscape Services Inc. of New Hope, also was driving north. He was distracted, according to the report, “from sneezing, observed the Uetz vehicle stopped, swerved to the right striking the right rear and left the roadway, impacting with several mailboxes and an embankment.”
No injuries were reported. The Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad checked both drivers. Both declined to be transported to a medical facility. West Amwell Fire/Rescue services responded to assist. Investigating Patrolman John Casella issued Mr. Stokes a summons for careless driving.
— On May 14 at approximately 2:18 p.m., patrols went to the ESC School, Route 179, to investigate a report of an assault on a faculty member. Patrolman Casella took a 11-year-old Trenton boy into custody for aggravated assault for allegedly, purposely throwing a metal paper punch at a male faculty member, striking him in the head and causing injury. The juvenile was processed, charged with the assault and released to a parent.
— On May 14 at approximately.8:16 p.m., patrols went to Woodens Lane near Hewitt to check out a report of a tractor-trailer stuck, blocking the entire roadway. Rodolfo R. Gonzalez-Torres, 30, of Las Vegas, Nevada, operating a tractor and trailer owned by Mato Transportation Inc. of Miami, Florida, was backing onto the roadway when the truck entered a drainage ditch and became stuck. The roadway was closed for one hour while heavy-duty towing service equipment extricated the vehicle. Patrolman Edward Skillman issued Mr. Gonzalez-Torres a summons for improper backing.
— Report for April 2012 — Police responded to 250 complaints including one assault, 14 other criminal complaints, five motor vehicle accidents, three family/domestic disputes, 14 residential/business alarms, three psychiatric emergencies and 25 emergency first aid and fire responses. Police also arrested 15 adults and two juveniles on various charges — five for driving while intoxicated. They issued 334 moving motor vehicle summonses and impounded 16 motor vehicles.
The filing of a motor vehicle and/or criminal complaint is merely a step in the Criminal Justice System process. The defendants are presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
Lambertville City police reported:
— On May 18, Officer Kenneth Housman was sent to a residence on Coryell Street to check out an act of criminal mischief. Resident Louis R. Tobooz, 63, said someone had thrown a rock through his living room window. The rock damaged his lace curtain, an antique Victorian Chair, and “scattered an antique vase valued at over $500.” Mr. Tobooz said he heard a group of juveniles running from the area.
— On May 14, Marie A. Boone-Georges, 50, of Trenton, told Detective Michael Miloszar that a red truck had struck her vehicle and fled the scene. Ms. Boone-Georges alleged her vehicle was struck behind the Lambertville Station Restaurant on Lambert Lane extension. In fact, police said, “Ms. Boone-Georges fell asleep behind the wheel of her 2002 Nissan and struck a garbage dumpster.” The detective charged Ms. Boone-Georges with false report to law enforcement authorities. She was released pending a court appearance.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
New Hope police reported:
— On April 4, police charged Bradley Johnson, 46, of Waccabuc, New York, with issuing worthless checks, totaling $6,530, to a Lakeview Drive resident.
— On April 13 at 3:20 p.m., a Ringoes, New Jersey, woman told police that, on or about April 7, her cell phone was stolen while she was at a South Main Street establishment. The victim has provided police with the name of a suspect, and police are continuing their investigation.
— On April 14 at 10 a.m., police arrested Louis Hillen, 58, of West New York, New York, and charged him with theft and receiving stolen property, in connection with the theft of statues and artwork from two borough businesses in 2010. Mr. Hillen was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Charles Baum, and was released on bail.
— On April 14 at 5:10 p.m., an Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania, woman told police that, at some time earlier in the day, four credit cards had been removed from her pocketbook, while she was at work at a West Bridge Street establishment. It was then determined that the cards had been used later in the day to make a purchase of $3,180 at a store in New Hope, and a purchase of $530 at a store in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.
— On April 16, police charged Douglas Byers, 43, of New Hope, with bad checks, theft by deception and receiving stolen property, after he passed 18 worthless checks, at a total cost of $1,364.19, at a West Bridge Street business.
— On May 8 at 11:25 a.m., a Harleysville, Pennsylvania, man told police that, at some time during the overnight hours, someone took a box containing “Atlas” O gauge model trains, valued at $700, from underneath a table at a train show at a Sugan Road location.
— On May 9 at 4:40 p.m., police cited William Goldberg, 58, of Short Hills, New Jersey, and Elena Dorie, 43, of Glen Garden, New Jersey, for disorderly conduct, after they were seen acting in a disorderly manner on a South Main Street property.
— On May 10 at 9:45 a.m., the owner of a West Bridge Street establishment told police that, at some time during the overnight hours, someone had forcibly entered his store, and had removed $300. At about the same time, the owner of a business in the same block reported that, at some time during the overnight hours, someone had attempted to forcibly enter her store, but had failed to do so. In both cases, the actor(s) smashed a front window to gain access to the building. Police have established a probable time frame for the incident, and are asking anyone with information to call New Hope police at 215-862-3033.
— On May 12 at 8 p.m., the owner of a West Mechanic Street restaurant told police that, at some time earlier that day, someone had forcibly entered his establishment, and had removed approximately $100 worth of liquor. The actor(s) apparently gained access to the building by breaking a window pane in a door to access the lock
