Millstone Township Native Graduates from Penn State with Landscape Architecture Degree

By Michele Marchetti
Kaylynn Primerano, a 2007 graduate of Allentown High School and the daughter of Mark and Jane Primerano, graduated from the Pennsylvania State University on May 5, 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture.
While pursuing her degree, Primerano participated in a range of studio projects including designing a campus environmental center, identifying lands to protect for a local conservancy, and creating designs for new towns and urban revitalization. Her team also took the top prize in the Raymond Bowers Excellence in Design and Construction competition in April, 2012.
During her fourth year, she spent one semester studying abroad in Rome, Italy, and won the Thorp Prize design competition while there. This year her major studio projects included a multidisciplinary course focused on master planning for urban development on Toronto’s waterfront, and she was one of a select few students to participate in a multidisciplinary “BIM” (Building Information Modeling) studio for the design of an extension to a university recreation center, with an emphasis on green building strategies.
Primerano plans to work in the field of urban design/urban ecology, incorporating nature in the built environment.
