Saturday, June 2 — Troop 1776 Venture Patrol is holding a car wash fundraiser 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hillsborough Elementary School at Route 206 and Amwell Road. $5 cars and $7 trucks or vans. Money goes to a July backpacking Appalachian Trail trip in Maine.

Friday, June 8 — Purchases made at Barnes & Nobel at the Somerville Circle all day support the Hillsborough Marching Band. Hillsborough Small Ensemble Bands begin at 4:30 p.m. Summer reading lists and books available.

Chain of Hope holds
wine-tasting event
Friday, June 8 — Chain of Hope’s first wine tasting at Old York Cellars, 80 Old York Road, Ringoes. 7 to 10 p.m. Included are six selections of wine, paired with chocolates, fruit and cheese. Cash bar available. Register at [email protected].
The organization was formed by life-long friends from Hillsborough after one of their own was stricken with breast cancer. Fund raising assists individuals and causes in central New Jersey to gain peace of mind in challenging times.
Handbell concert
fights blindness
Saturday, June 9 — A concert at 7 p.m. by handbell artist Hyosang Park and pianist Akiko Hosaki performs at Hillsborough Reformed Church at Millstone, 1 Amwell Road at Millstone River Road. A freewill offering will be taken. Call 908-359-3391. The concert benefits the United Front Against Riverblindness, which is trying to end the disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Garden club plans
trip to Colonial Park
Thursday, June 14 — The Neshanic Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. at Colonial Park in Somerset to tour the rose, perennial and fragrance gardens. The tour will be led by Jeff Van Pelt.
Those wishing to carpool may meet at the Bottle King at 626 Route 206 in Hillsborough at 9 a.m. The meeting and installation of officers will be held at the Gardeners’ Nook at 2135 Amwell Road, Somerset, at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by a box lunch picnic.

Slavic group sings,
dances at festival
Friday, June 22 — The Slavjane Folk Ensemble will perform Friday, June 22, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church Parish Center, 1900 Brooks Blvd. The group of 35 costumed performers from ages 6-21 present the culture and traditions of the Slavic ethnicities of the Carpatho-Rusyn people of East Central Europe through music, song and dance. Suicide awareness

Tuesday, June 26 — Boro SAFE (Suicide Awareness For Everyone), the public schools’ suicide awareness and prevention committee, will hold a forum, 9 a.m. to noon, in auditorium of high school, 466 Raider Blvd.
