An adult summer reading club, with a theme of “Between the Covers,” kicks off Thursday, June 7, at 7 p.m.
The club runs between June 18 and Sept. 4. On June 7, staff librarians will introduce the process of the Summer Reading Club, suggested reading and club prizes. Kathryn Weidener, a local storyteller, will tell a story on the Summer Reading Club theme.
Books will be available to check out during the program, so you’re welcome to bring your Smart Phone for self-check-out on the Boopsie app, or staff will check out items for you.
• Author’s discussion — On Wednesday, June 13, at 7 p.m. Jon Gertner will talk about his book, “The Idea Factory,” a narrative that dissects New Jersey’s Bell Labs, the center of America’s innovative brilliance of the last century. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

• Friday night movie — “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol,” starring Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner, will be shown June 15 at 7 p.m.
• Book discussion — The Friends of the Library will talk about “The Confession” by John Grisham on Tuesday, June 12, at 7:30 p.m.
• Chinese tea culture — Tea means lifestyle, customs and a combined social process of learning, planting and using tea. It has its own philosophy. Jeanette Yu will talk about the art of drinking tea, types of tea and health benefits. There will be a Chinese tea tasting, so bring your own cup! Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m.

Summer volunteer sign-up have begun. Teens entering grades 8-12 in the fall and who are looking for a way to earn community service hours can pick up an application to volunteer at the library this summer.
• Singing Babies (newborn to 24 months) — Ann Wild will help start little ones on the road to a lifetime love of music-making. Friday, June 1, at 10 a.m.
• First Look Books (grades 6-12) — Want a free book? Get a sneak peek at teen titles before they hit the shelves! Tell us what you think, and take one home. Monday, June 4, at 5 p.m.
• Teen movie afternoon (grades 6-12) — Watch “Hugo” (rated PG). Snacks will be provided. Saturday, June 16 from 2 to 4 p.m.
