Chris M. Fossel,
race director
Pennington 5K
The Pennington 5K race committee would like to thank the almost 400 runners, walkers and children who enjoyed the 36th annual Pennington 5K, “The Race To Remember,” the morning of Pennington Day. By all accounts, it was considered to be a great success! The Hopewell Valley YMCA and the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance shared the race proceeds to benefit Hopewell Valley’s youth.
Most of all, we would like to thank all of our sponsors, especially Capital Health, the 2012 race sponsor. Also, we would like to give special thanks to all of our Gold Sponsors: Hopewell Valley Physical Therapy and Princeton Nassau Pediatrics. Additionally, we greatly appreciate the contributions of our Silver Sponsors: A & E Construction, Athletic Resource, The Bank of Princeton, Baxter Construction Inc., Bulldog Basics Basketball Camp, Christopher Kazior D.M.D., Dr. Mark McDonough-Orthodontist, Emily’s Café & Catering, Princeton Sports & Family Medicine, Richard Levandowski, MD, Hopewell Boro Auto Repair, Hopewell Valley Community Bank, Law Office of Michael L. Pisauro, Jr LLC, Pennington Family Chiropractic, Pennington Quality Market, Riverstone Custom Cabinetry, and Shoppes at Pennington.
This race was made especially memorable by the 2012 grand marshals, Congressman Rush Holt and the Hopewell Valley Central High School (HVCHS) 2012 Pennington 5K Student Leadership (A.K.A. The WOW) Team. They deserve our gratitude for a job well done and special thanks for the time they committed on behalf of the race.
We would also like to thank the invaluable contributions given by our In-Kind Sponsors: Leif Baumbach, Pennington Quality Market, Pennington Bagel, Pennington Day Inc., Circle Cleaners The Front Porch, The Princeton Running Company, Village Shoes, Roma Bank, Road ID, Runner’s World Magazine, and Stop & Shop.
Finally a special thank you to Tony Persichilli, Paul Anzono, Hopewell Valley Regional School District, Mike Daher, Bart Yasso, Miriam Khan, Pennington Fire Company and Hopewell Fire Department, Pennington First Aid Squad, Pennington and Hopewell Township police departments, the amazing HVCHS Choir, HVCHS Cheerleaders, Mill House Band, Scott Brown’s Jazz Ensemble, John McDonald, Girls on the Run, Boy Scout Troop 41, YMCA staff and community volunteers who helped the morning of the race, especially the 40 students from HVCHS.
Last, but by no means least, farewell Tina Morak. Tina’s contribution as a key member of the Race Committee will be missed especially for the spirit Tina has given the race for so many years.
As Bart Yasso, author, race organizer and contributor to “Runner’s World Magazine” said of the race: “The Pennington 5K is a true community event. When you cross the finish line you will agree this is a ‘Race To Remember.’”
We cannot help but agree with his assessment and know how hard it was to make the race great if not for all the great help we consistently received from the community.
See all of you next year and remember to bring your family and friends!
