A man and woman in their 30s were robbed and assaulted at gunpoint by three suspects in the heart of Princeton Borough early Saturday morning.
Between 3 and 3:30 a.m. on June 2, the suspects approached the victims in the area of Nassau Street and Witherspoon Street brandishing handguns and demanding money. They reported that one suspect struck the male victim behind the right ear with the handle of his handgun and another suspect struck the female victim in the ribs with his firearm. Both reported injuries from the assault.
The assault was reported to police at 4:37 p.m.
”They called it in much later, so I think one sought medical attention on their own,” said Capt. Nicholas Sutter, who did not have a reason why the victims took so long to report the robbery. “They were scared and left the area and decided to report it later, they did not give a firm reason why (they waited to report), it’s kind of ambiguous.”
The victims reported $700 in cash was stolen from them and the suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.
The first suspect is described as a dark skinned male, approximately 5-feet 11-inches tall, approximately 200 pounds, wearing a blue sweatshirt, dark colored jeans, and a red bandana covering his face. The second suspect is a dark skinned male, approximately 5-feet 7-inches tall, 180-190 pounds, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, dark jeans, and a red bandana covering his face.
