Edison Police set Jr. Police Academy

The Edison Police Department will conduct a Junior Police Academy that will be held in two separate sessions, July 30- Aug. 3 and Aug. 6-10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The academy will be held at Woodrow Wilson Middle School, 50 Woodrow Wilson Drive

The academy is open to all Edison middle school students who are entering sixth, seventh, or eighth grade as of September. The deadline for registration is July 13. Class sizes are limited, and students will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $75 per week, payable to the Edison Municipal Alliance by either check or money order.

Activities to be held include: DWI education, K-9 demonstrations, fire demonstrations, motor vehicle stops, emergency response team, anti-drug education, drill and ceremony, climbing a rock wall, sporting activities, a National Guard helicopter landing, and more.

Graduates of the academy will receive a diploma at a ceremony that will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 3 and Aug. 10 at the Edison Municipal Complex, where family and friends are invited to attend.
