MANVILLE: Senior Corner column, week of June 7

   The Manville Senior Citizens meet at 12:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the VFW on Washington Avenue. The club is comprised of people who are residents of Manville, age 60 or older, and age 55, if disabled.
   Canned goods or non-perishable food items will continue to be collected before each meeting, as well as soup labels. Remember to bring one item per member to help stock the Food Bank.
   Blood pressure screening is held before the beginning of each meeting for members.
   The annual picnic will be at Falcons Camp on Thursday, June 28, from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets at $5 for members and $10 for guests will be on sale at meetings today and June 14.
   Reminder to members: Please pay your 2012 dues to Sally Kennedy.
   Thanks again to Michelle Mongillo and her eighth-grade social studies class for hosting the annual Breakfast and Bingo at Alexander Batcho Intermediate School on Thursday, May 17. The students and seniors look forward to this unique event enjoying good food and a few games of bingo with special prizes.
   Recreation Events
   • Atlantic City — The club is running a $2 bus trip on Sunday, June 24, to Showboat Casino. Contact Bill or Theresa Evans at 908-625-5013. The bus leaves from the VFW parking lot.
   • Atlantic City — Trips have changed to the second Wednesdays of the each month. The next one leaves from the VFW parking lot at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, and goes to Showboat Casino. The cost is $30, which will be returned. This trip is open to the public by reservation only. Make your reservation with Josephine Pschar at the meeting or call her at 908-722-0156.
