Christine Miller,
on behalf of
LPS Class of 2012
Last Thursday and Friday, May 31 and June 1, the Lambertville Public School sixth-grade class traveled to Washington D.C. for a two-day visit to our nation’s capital.
The 27 students had the opportunity to visit many historic sites, including Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, the Capitol Building, Arlington National Cemetery and The Smithsonian Institution — including the Air & Space Museum, National Zoo, Natural History Museum and Botanical Gardens. The trip was jam packed with learning, fun and great weather.
This trip ties into the school’s social studies curriculum and provides a growth opportunity for the students as they will be promoted from LPS elementary school to middle school in a few short weeks. The sixth-grade students had to prepare for the trip by successfully completing 24 hours of community service. What an important message to send to the youth of our vibrant community!
Without the hard work of our parent and school volunteers and the extreme generosity of our community businesses and organizations, this trip would not be possible.
Many thanks to the following for their financial support: A Mano, American Legion Toscani Post 120, The Artful Eye, Bear Apothecary, The Medicine Shoppe, David Rago Auctions, Dr. Grutzmacher, Ed’s Auto Repair, Education Management Consulting, Finkles Hardware, Garefino Funeral Home, Greene & Greene Gallery, Advanced Cerametrics, JB Kline, The Hamilton Grill Room, The Kalmia Club, The Lambertville Station, Lambertville Trading Company, Michael Burns Architect, The Missing Piece, Modern Recycled Spaces, Movement Logic Physical Therapy, Mr. Geoff Hewitt, NT Callaway Real Estate, The Pralls Trust and Bambi Kuhl, RPM Direct, Shop Rite of Flemington, The Frame Shop, Sojourner, J. Thank you to our generous teachers, Ms. Potts, Mrs. Nocar and Mr. Hewitt for all of their effort in making this trip a reality. Their continued guidance and support is unsurpassed and meaningful to each of our students. Every day you shape the lives of these outstanding young people. There is no job more important than what you do everyday.
