EAST WINDSOR — On Friday, June 1, at approximately 11:26 a.m. the East Windsor police responded to a reported motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 33 and Twin Rivers Drive North involving two motor vehicles, one of which had overturned, police said.
Police said that preliminary investigation revealed the operator of a 2012 Lexus, driven by Linda Prince, 66, of Aventura, Florida, was traveling south on Twin Rivers Drive North crossing Route 33 when it collided with a 2010 Honda Accord, which was traveling west on Route 33. Mr. Oleg Ponomarev, 57, of Englishtown was the driver of the Accord.
Following the collision, the Lexus came finally to rest on its driver side within the intersection blocking the left lane of Route 33 westbound, according to police.
Ms. Prince was extricated from her vehicle by fire department personnel.
There were no other vehicles reported to be involved in the incident and there were no passengers in either vehicle, police noted.
Ms. Prince sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision and was transported via ambulance to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold.
Mr. Ponomarev was not injured as a result of the collision, police stated. Assisting Agencies were Capital Health System Ambulance; Capital Health System Paramedics; East Windsor Volunteer Rescue District 2; East Windsor Volunteer Fire No. 1; East Windsor Volunteer Fire No. 2; Hightstown Volunteer Fire Station 46 and Monroe Township Fire Station 57.
Police said Route 33 westbound traffic was detoured for approximately 60 minutes while the scene was cleared.
The incident is under investigation by the East Windsor Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit. No charges have been filed at this time.
