CREDIT AND NON-CREDIT COURSES AND STELLAR FACULTY ENABLE STUDENTS TO EXPAND HORIZONS WITH TOP SUMMER EXPERIENCE
Seton Hall University (www.shu.edu), one of the country’s leading Catholic universities, has announced a special summer session series of course offerings for high school and middle school students. Credit and non-credit courses, camps and institutes provide an opportunity to gain college credit, upgrade writing and math skills, and explore various areas of interest.
“My career in higher education has taught me that our real goal is to help young people develop a life-long love of learning,” notes Dr. Nancy Low-Hogan, Dean of Continuing Education and Professional Studies. “Seton Hall’s Summer Sessions are designed to give high school students opportunities to explore academics and discover what ignites their imagination.”
In addition to “learning what they love,” students can get a head start on their college education by taking courses that lighten their academic load during their freshman year or improve writing and math skills in preparation for the SAT’s.
Seton Hall is offering credit and non-credit courses during the “Learn What You Love” summer sessions, which run from June 12-August 6, and will include subjects ranging from college courses including psychology, sociology, philosophy, intermediate algebra, economics and oral communications, to non-credit summer camps and institutes such as writing for college and creative writing, introduction to video game programming, social media, fantasy and fiction writing, criminal justice, TV news camp and much more.
A theatre arts camp for middle school students, July 9-August 3, provides valuable insight in acting and stagecraft to helping develop confidence, communication stills and individuality. Taught by University faculty and professionals, the experience culminates in a theatrical performance in Seton Hall’s on-campus Theatre-in-the Round.
To encourage youth to explore topics of interest and try multiple courses, the University is offering a select group of college-credit courses at 50% off their regular cost. For students who take more than one non-credit course, there is a $50 per course discount.
