Garden club plans
trip to Colonial Park
Thursday, June 14 The Neshanic Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. at Colonial Park in Somerset to tour the rose, perennial and fragrance gardens. The tour will be led by Jeff Van Pelt.
Those wishing to carpool may meet at the Bottle King at 626 Route 206 in Hillsborough at 9 a.m. The meeting and installation of officers will be held at the Gardeners’ Nook at 2135 Amwell Road, Somerset, at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by a box lunch picnic.
Members may attend the container workshop afterward and/or buy plants. Prospective members are encouraged to attend. For information, contact club president Janet Gibson at 908-359-0176.

Flapjack fundraiser
helps Scout troop
Sunday, June 17 A flapjack fundraiser breakfast is being held from 8-10 a.m. at the Hillsborough Applebee’s on Route 206 to raise funds for two Eagle Scout projects from Troop 489. Alex Duncan’s project will benefit the Jr. Raiders organization and Stephen Sopko’s project will support Girl Scout Camp DeWitt. The menu is pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and a beverage. Slavic group sings,
dances at festival
Friday, June 22 The Slavjane Folk Ensemble will perform Friday, June 22, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church Parish Center, 1900 Brooks Blvd. The group of 35 costumed performers from ages 6-21 present the culture and traditions of the Slavic ethnicities of the Carpatho-Rusyn people of East Central Europe through music, song and dance.
