HILLSBOROUGH: Girls give bit of selves to ease hurt of cancer

Hillsborough Girl Scout Troop 718 culminated its year of learning and caring for others by hosting a Pantene Beautiful Lengths “cut-off” on Friday at Woodfern Elementary School.
Volunteers, stylists and adult and child donors all came together to donate 80 inches to make real-hair wigs for folks coping with cancer treatment.
Beautiful Lengths is a partnership between the Pantene hair products company and the American Cancer Society. In addition to helping women grow long, strong hair, the company gives money to turn the hair into free wigs for women with cancer.
To see if you are eligible to receive a free wig or if there are wigs available in the area, call the American Cancer Society’s Wig Bank Line at 1-877-227-1596.
Troop 718 leaders thanked hairstylist Candace Kerr, who donated her time to make this event happen.
Troop 718 hopes to make this an annual tradition. If are interested in making a donation next spring, contact troop leader Heather Weinberg at [email protected].
