LAWRENCE: Police nab cyclist

By Lea Kahn, Staff Writer
Kenneth Lee Dempsey, 42, of Trenton, was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing the administration of law after he refused to stop for police officers on Lawrence Road.
Police were investigating another call when they saw Mr. Dempsey acting in a suspicious manner around 5:35 p.m. June 6. He was riding a bicycle on Lawrence Road near Brearley Avenue, and kept looking over his shoulder at the police officers.
He continued to ride south on Lawrence Road and then crossed over to Princeton Avenue. When the officers called for him to stop, he ignored them. They caught up with him next to a building on Lawrence Road and when he refused to get off the bicycle, he was arrested.
Police discovered a bolt cutter concealed inside a jacket on the bicycle handlebars, and a glass pipe with residue in it. During their investigation, they found that the bicycle had been reported stolen from a Princeton Borough resident earlier in the day.
Mr. Dempsey was issued summonses and released.
