The Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce Diversity Committee will present “Roots and Wings: The Differences That Unite Our Businesses” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. June 28 at Center Playhouse, 35 South St., Freehold.
The evening will be filled with inspirational stories of immigrants who packed up their families, belongings, customs and foods to find a better life in the United States. The stories may be from many generations back or as recent as this past year.
The program is designed to celebrate the many cultures that have blended to create the dynamic business community in America and will be performed by trained actors, musicians and dancers. Multicultural foods and drinks will add to the event’s ambiance. The fee to attend is $25 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers. Details: 732- 462-3030.
The Investors Foundation, which provides funding support to not-for-profit organizations in communities served by Investors Bank, has announced a $10,000 grant award to Collier Youth Services, Wickatunk section of Marlboro.
The grant, which follows on similar funding previously awarded by the foundation, will support Collier’s innovative Campership initiative, which enables children between the ages of 5 and 13 to attend the organization’s Kateri Day Camp summer program.
“Our programs serve more than 200 children each summer, and all of them receive some form of financial aid,” Collier Development Director Jackie St. Angel said. “All are from low-income families and many live in distressed neighborhoods, and this scholarship program enables them to receive partial or full assistance.”
“For decades, Collier Youth Services has been creating structured and supportive learning and recreational environments for young people,” said Kevin Cummings, president and CEO of Investors Bank and a member of the foundation’s board. “We applaud their continued efforts on behalf of children and families.”
Investors Bank, headquartered in Short Hills, is a full-service community bank that has been serving customers since 1926.
