At 8:41 a.m. June 11, Richard Peterson of North 6th Avenue, reported a theft from his vehicle. Patrols found a piece of molding was missing, but it was unknown if it was lost or stolen. The incident was put on the record.
Jeffrey Martin, 21, of Atlantic City, was charged with possession of paraphernalia following a traffic stop by Lt. John Crater at 1:30 p.m. June 11. Mr. Martin was released.
Michelle Oliveri, 39, of Manville, was charged at 5:40 p.m. June 11 with shoplifting from Walmart. She was released after processing.
A Czaplicki Avenue woman came to headquarters at 7:23 p.m. June 11 to say someone used her social security number to open a credit account for $50 on April 25 at a public defender’s office. The next night she came back to say she wasn’t a victim of identity theft and the charge was hers.
County communications reported at 7:29 a.m. June 12 that a large amount of bread fell off a truck on South Main Street near the CVS store. Public Works staffers removed the loaves.
A South Main Street man came to headquarters at 9:26 a.m. June 12 to report his blue-black 24-inch mountain bike had been stolen.
A Stockton man came to headquarters at 12:26 p.m. June 12 and said he was having financial and business issues with a business partner now in Egypt. Cash transactions have taken place. Police told him it was a civil matter.
A North Main Street man came to headquarters at 1:28 p.m. to report the theft of a vehicle, which was entered into the national crime registry, as well as two checks totaling $27,800 stolen by a man whose name he gave to police. Police said all matters were civil, but they’d continue to look into it.
A caller asked for patrols to respond to the high school for a red-and-black Chevy Suburban doing burn-outs in the parking lot at 7:21 a.m. June 13. Patrols advised the driver to stop.
A South 6th Avenue caller reported at 2:32 p.m. that her unlocked car had been entered overnight or early morning. Nothing was taken or broken, but items were moved around in the vehicle. The incident was entered into the record.
Several cars speed down Harrison Avenue around the same time every day, a caller said at 7:19 p.m. June 13. Police located the cars at Papawick Park and drivers were advised of the complaint.
A Brooks Boulevard woman called at 9:21 p.m. June 13 to say her son had overdosed on several unknown prescription pills. Patrols and the rescue squad responded, and a 37-year-old man was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
A man passed out in the doorway of a South Main Street address was found to be highly intoxicated, police said, and was taken to Somerset Medical Center. Police couldn’t identify the man.
Loud basketball players on the Weston School court were moved along by police following an anonymous call at 11:30 p.m. June 13. Players also were scattered there at 9:43 p.m. June 16.
A South 3rd Avenue caller reported hearing strange noises in her basement at 11:34 p.m. June 13. Patrols didn’t find anything.
Errol J. Brown, 59, of Somerset was arrested and charged with defiant trespassing on the Adesa Auto Auction property on North Main Street at 9:20 a.m. June 14. He was released with a summons.
A caller came to headquarters to say that she has noticed bruising on the legs and lower backs of her two children, ages 4 and 5. She suspected her husband, she said, and she had contacted the state Division of Youth and Family Services. Police confirmed the bruises, and the matter was recorded.
Patrolman Todd Widitz reported a theft from a gray Saturn in the Reading Cinema lot at 2:43 p.m. June 14. The owner was asked to come to the nearby headquarters. He came to the parking lot and immediately left without filing a report.
A structure fire was reported at 1020 St. John Street at 4:43 p.m. June 14. The scene was turned over to the Fire Department.
Two bananas and a laptop computer valued at $300 were reported taken from a Jeep Liberty in the Reading Cinema lot at 5:45 p.m. June 14. There was no forced entry, and no evidence recovered at scene.
A South 19th Avenue woman reported at 10:12 a.m. Friday having a dead raccoon in the rear of the residence. Animal control was asked to respond.
A 2006 gray Dodge Charger in the Adesa Auto lot was found to be stolen at 10:27 a.m. Friday.
A North 15th Avenue man called at 9:26 p.m. Friday to report two men had urinated on the street and took off on the other side of the tracks. Patrols found the men gone on their arrival.
County communications reported a female trying to harm herself in the middle of East Frech Avenue at 2:39 a.m. Saturday. The rescue squad was dispatched to deal with the hand injury to the 22-year-old Suffern, New York, woman, who was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
A Skyview Taxi driver reported a Manville woman, 41, spit at him as she got out of the taxi at 12:22 p.m. Saturday. She denied the accusation. All parties were told they could sign complaints.
A North 18th Avenue woman reported at 7:13 p.m. Saturday that her neighbor yells and curses at her children. Patrols spoke to both parties.
A 37-year-old South Main Street man reported lying on the steps near a South Main Street Chinese restaurant was taken to Somerset Medical Center at 7:57 p.m. June 16.
Sgt. Jeffery Petrone checked on a vehicle in the high school lot and requested the squad to deal with an unknown medical emergency at 2:17 a.m. Sunday. A 72-year-old Manville man was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
A Jackson Avenue woman reported finding a bicycle in front of her house at 11:27 a.m. Sunday. Police picked up the blue/black Rallye “Meltdown,” valued at $50, and put it in storage.
A Washington Avenue woman reported a possible rabid groundhog in the rear of the residence at 11:54 a.m. Sunday. St. Hubert’s animal control was called.
A Clinton Avenue woman came to headquarters at 12:21 p.m. Sunday to report she had lost her cellular phone inside Walmart. It was dialed to no success. She was told to call her phone company.
A South Main Street woman called at 1:48 p.m. Sunday to say she is concerned that her neighbor’s tiki torch might be a potential fire hazard. She was told to call police when it occurred.
A Bridgewater woman came to headquarters at 7:35 p.m. Sunday to say she had heard a child screaming in a white van parked in the Walmart parking lot. Patrols found the van was unoccupied, but children were playing in a station wagon parked next to the van.
