WCTC’s Ellery honored with lifetime award

 Jack Ellery Jack Ellery Greater Media New Jersey’s legendary radio morning show host Jack Ellery of 1450 WCTC-AM, New Brunswick, has received two major honors from the New Jersey Broadcasters Association.

Ellery has been given the NJBA’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his more than 60 years in radio, including nearly 50 years atWCTC. He is only the third person to win the prestigious award.

Additionally, Ellery has been inducted into the NJBA’s new Hall of Fame. He is one of seven people who comprise the first class of inductees.

Ellery received the honors at the NJBA’s annual awards luncheon held at Caesars Atlantic City.

Ellery began working in radio in 1951 in Lewiston, Maine. His storied career has taken him to stations in major markets such as New York, Philadelphia and Tampa, Fla. However, it is at 1450 WCTC where Ellery has made his mark. He has been on the air atWCTC for each of the past six decades.

Ellery is considered to be one of the nationwide pioneers of the talk radio era.

WCTC is owned by the Sentinel Publishing Co., a subsidiary of Greater Media Inc., the parent company of 22 AM and FM radio stations in the Boston, Charlotte, Detroit, New Jersey and Philadelphia markets. Greater Media also owns a group of weekly newspapers in central New Jersey and several telecommunications towers located throughout the United States.
