CRANBURY: Cranbury School graduates 78

By Kaitlyn Kanzler, Special Writer
CRANBURY — The eighth graders of Cranbury School may be leaving to enter high school, but they have left a part of them behind for years to come.
On June 15, 78 eighth grade students received their diplomas, leaving behind a wall tile mural as their gift to the school and celebrating the graduation theme of “The end is the beginning.”
”It was a perfect way to celebrate the students’ nine years here at Cranbury School,” Dr. Susan Genco, chief school administrator and principal, said. “To celebrate their success and their history but also look forward to the bright future ahead.”
According to Dr. Genco, the students voted on what they wanted to give to the school. Each student created a mandala that was put onto a tile and mounted on the wall of the gymnasium lobby.
In the center of the mural is the new Cranbury School logo and the class of 2012’s quote by Confucius, “Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.”
This is Dr. Genco’s first graduating class as the chief school administrator and principal.
”I thought she did a wonderful job and made the graduation very personal for every student,” Evelyn Spann, whose daughter Allison Spann was among the graduates, said.
The students will enter Princeton High School as freshman in the fall.
