POLICE BLOTTER: Week of June 22

East Windsor
   Police said they arrested ad charged a 65-year-old man with driving while intoxicated after he struck a tree with his car on Arborwood Court at 10:52 p.m. on June 13.
   Richard Toranto of Brick, N.J., fled the scene to Old York Road, where police recovered his vehicle.
   Mr. Toranto was also charged with reckless driving, careless driving, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, failure to report a motor vehicle accident, operating an unsafe vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was later release pending court action.
   A man from Princeton Arms was charged with eluding police on June 14 at 10:10 p.m., according to police.
   Brian Sharpe, was observed on a motorcycle travelling at 76 mph on Route 133. Police, said Mr. Sharpe began to speed up reaching a speed of 103 mph when he noticed a police officer trying to pull him over.
   Mr. Sharpe eventually pulled over and was charged with speeding, reckless driving, failure to stop for an emergency vehicle, failure to yield and unlicensed driving.
   A woman reported a stolen Coach purse with a Sony camera inside to police on June 16. According to police the bag was left unattended between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.***
   Two vehicles were broken into between June 16 and June 17.
   The first vehicle parked on Wickham Lane was missing a satellite radio and an i-Pod charger.
   The second vehicle was missing a handicapped parking placard.
   A woman reported two of her car’s hubcaps were stolen between 11 p.m. on June 14 and 8 p.m. on June 15. Police said that the hubcaps were worth $50 each.
   Police said 27-year-old man was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams at 8:00 p.m. on June 15.
   Edgardo Serrano, of Trenton, was pulled over for speeding when the officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from his vehicle, according to police.
   He was arrested and later released pending court action.
   A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats to a woman on June 19 at 9:35 p.m., according to police.
   Thomas Guzzone, of Pebble Road, burned the complainant’s patio furniture and threatened to kill her before he was arrested at on Woods Road, police said.
   Mr. Guzzone was also charged with criminal mischief and harassment.
   Bail was set at $10,000 and the suspect was later committed to the Mercer County Detention Center in lieu of bail.
Hightstown
   At 8:24 a.m. June 16 on South Main Street, officer arrested Lavi L. Finkelstein, 34, of Plainview, N.Y., and charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, and speeding.
   Police said he was stopped for speeding, traveling 39 mph in a 25 mph speed zone, and added that Mr. Finkelstein appeared under the influence of an intoxicant and was given field sobriety tests which he failed.
   He was taken into custody and was found to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, according to police. He was later released to a friend with pending court action.
   On Mercer Street, officers charged Richard O. Ferrarin, 68, of Academy Street, with contempt of court after arresting him at 10:05 a.m. June 16.
   Mr. Ferrarin was known to have an active warrant in the amount of $2,000 issued by Egg Harbor City Municipal Court, police said. He was observed on a bicycle by the officer and was taken into custody.
   An additional warrant check revealed an active county warrant with no bail issued by Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department, police said. Mr. Ferrarin was transported to the Mercer County Adult Correction Center in lieu of bail.
   On June 18 Hightstown Borough Police Department’s K-9 Unit assisted the Robbinsville Township Police Department in the apprehension of two subjects wanted by the police that were hiding in a residence.
   A search of the residence by the K-9 Unit resulted in the apprehension of Eric Ford, 29, of Robbinsville and Darren Byrd, 26, of Robbinsville, police said. Both men were found hiding under a bed after the K-9 tracked them. Mr. Byrd and Mr. Ford then surrendered to police upon the presence of the K-9.
   Officers arrested Louis Watts, 39, of Bronx, N.Y. and charged him with speeding, driving while suspended, and contempt of court at 7:15 p.m. June 19 on Stockton Street.
   Mr. Watts was stopped for traveling 42 mph in a 25 mph speed zone, police said. A credential check revealed his license suspended and three warrants issued: Springfield Municipal Court in the amount of $500; Woodbridge Township Municipal Court in the amount of $300; and Wall Township Municipal Court in the amount of $220.
   Mr. Watts was released with pending court action.
   At 11:51 a.m. June 20, at the Hightstown Police Department, officers took custody of Cristian Mendoza-Salazar, 27, of Hamilton, who was charged with contempt of court.
   Mr. Mendoza-Salazar turned himself in after learning of a criminal warrant issued for his arrest by Hightstown Municipal Court in the amount of $750, police said. An additional traffic warrant in the amount of $250 was found for Mr. Mendoza-Salazar also issued by Hightstown Borough Municipal Court.
   Mr. Mendoza-Salazar was released upon posting bail.
