SOUTH BRUNSWICK — Nearly 50 eighth-grade students graduated from St. Augustine of Canterbury School on June 6 during the graduation ceremony prayer service held at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church in Kendall Park.
According to a press release, Sister Mary Louise Shulas, principal of the school, and the Rev. Robert Lynam, pastor of St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, presided over the ceremony.
Numerous academic awards were presented to members of the graduating class, including recognition of students who have attained an overall “A” average since the fourth grade and performed above the 85th percentile in standardized testing nationally. Scholarship awards from a number of Catholic high schools and regional private high schools were also announced.
St. Augustine of Canterbury School is a Roman Catholic elementary school within the Diocese of Metuchen and is situated on a 20-acre campus in South Brunswick. Accredited by Middle States for more than 20 years, the school currently enrolls 542 students from prekindergarten to eighth grade from the township and surrounding communities in central New Jersey.
The school community provides a full educational curriculum in language arts, math, physical education, health, computers, religion, art, science and social studies. In addition, an array of extra-curricular activities in academic and athletic pursuits is available.
