HIGHTSTOWN: Police say gunshot fired in attempted robbery

   HIGHTSTOWN — On Wednesday, June 27, at approximately 8:30 p.m. officers were detailed to the Deerfield Apartment Complex on a report of an attempted robbery with a gunshot fired, according to a release by the Hightstown Police Department.
   According to the victim and witness accounts two African American men approached the victim in an attempt to steal his vehicle, displayed a silver revolver style handgun and fired one shot into the air as the victim fled the area on foot, police said.
   The shooter was described as in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 6 feet tale with stocky build, and a “chin-strap” style goatee, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and red shirt carried over his shoulder, according to police, adding he had short, dark hair, and a tribal style tattoo on his forearm.
   The second suspect was reported to be in his late 20s to early 30s as well, wearing a black T-shirt and cargo style shorts, police said.
   The suspects may have fled the area in a black car unknown make, model, or style, according to police.
   There were no injuries and the incident was not connected to the robbery attempt of a taxi driver that occurred in East Windsor Township.
