NEW HOPE: It’s a go: There will be fireworks tonight

”Notwithstanding any unforeseen emergencies, river heights, or weather conditions, Garden State Fireworks has confirmed they will be on site, in New Hope, today between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. to prepare for the fourth 2012 Friday Night Fireworks display. The river should be at 0.3 and there is a 0 percent chance of rain this evening,” said a spokesman.
The wind is predicted at 7 miles per hour, from the north-west. The fireworks will be loaded on the barge stationed at the Waterloo Street pumping station.
Signs, indicating the go-ahead of the fireworks, will be posted at both ends of the New Hope Lambertville Bridge.
Tugging to the launch site on the River will proceed at approximately 7:30 p.m. with the support of Tim Yates and his crew, Glen Stephan and Marc Currie.
Anthony Manginelli will be the lead onsite pyrotechnician. Dave Sullenberger will captain the on-river safety boat. Heather Ransome will provide the detonation boat. Pleasure boats on the river are required to be 600 feet from the barge.
Kathy Boockvar, Democratic nominee for Congress, Pennsylvania’s 8th District, will be the countdown celebrity. Ryan Fuller will be the emcee.
John Danaher, Merging Music, presents an evening of classic rock and original music by the Awful Truth.
Volunteers from the South Hunterdon Regional High School football team will be collecting donations in both the New Hope and Lambertville areas.
The fireworks display is set to begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. and the show should last between 9 and 10 minutes.
”We will set off the fireworks, on the Delaware River, approximately 850 feet south of the New Hope Lambertville toll supported Bridge,” said the spokesman.
”Please advise individuals to respect the pedestrian traffic regulations enforced by our towns’ safety and police officers. Also, please remember to carry trash off the bridge and place litter in the designated bins at both sides of the bridge,” the spokesman concluded.
