POLICE BLOTTER: Week of June 29

East Windsor
   Complainants reported that two unlocked vehicles on Allison Road were entered overnight and items were stolen between 11:30 p.m. June 19 and 9 a.m. June 20, police said. In one of the vehicles loose change was taken, in the other a GPS unit was stolen.
   Police said a complainant reported that a laptop was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot of Wawa between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. June 19. The incident is under investigation.
   A complainant reported that her purse, which was left in an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart, was stolen between 3:52 p.m. and 3:58 p.m. June 20, police stated. The purse was described as a Tommy Hilfiger bag.
   According to police, a complainant reported that two unlocked vehicles on Hickory Corner Road were entered into overnight and items were removed between midnight and 6:30 a.m. June 21. A GPS unit and loose change were reported stolen in this incident.
   Police said a theft occurred after a complainant reported that a bicycle was removed from an unsecured garage on Buxton Drive between 4 p.m. June 17 and 8:23 p.m. June 21. The bicycle is described as a silver Mongoose “Scorch” men’s mountain bike worth $100.
   Officers responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Oxford Drive and Elm Road at 12:15 a.m. June 21, according to police.
   Police said that upon arrival it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle in the one car accident as well as the passengers had fled the scene of the accident. Nearby residents reported hearing the crash and more than one person was observed running into the woods immediately after the accident.
   The investigation into the incident revealed that the defendant, Raymond P. Stys, 18, of Edwards Drive was operating the motor vehicle at the time of the incident, police said.
   He was arrested at police headquarters, processed, and released pending court action.Mr. Stys faces, in addition to the obstructing justice charge, hindering apprehension, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, abandonment of motor vehicle in roadway and provisional driver’s license violation (hours of operation) charges.
   At 2:55 p.m. June 22 officers responded to Walmart for a report of a man shoplifting an air conditioner and a tool set. Loss prevention personnel also advised law enforcement that this same individual shoplifted other items on June 19. Upon the arrival of officers Yamil Rivera-Trinidad, 31, of New Brunswick had exited the store with the items and had not paid for them, police said.
   He was arrested, processed at police headquarters, and released pending court action.
   Mr. Rivera-Trinidad faces two counts of shoplifting charges for June 22 and June 19, according to police.
   Police said a complainant reported that cash and loose change was stolen from an unlocked motor vehicle on Fairfield Road sometime overnight between 6 p.m. June 21 and 9 a.m. June 22.
   While investigating an unrelated matter on Evans Avenue, officers observed a vehicle drive past their location on Evans Avenue at 11:10 p.m. June 24, police said. The vehicle then came back and a passenger from the vehicle shouted profanity at the police officers who were at the time speaking to homeowners in the area.
   The vehicle then fled in an erratic manner at a high rate of speed away from the scene, police said.
   The vehicle was stopped by officers on Keswick Road and it was determined that a 17-year-old juvenile passenger of the vehicle was responsible for the disorderly conduct, police said.
   The juveniles were turned over to an adult pending court action.
   The 17-year-old, of Knigstone Lane, was charged with disorderly conduct.
   Additionally charges included careless driving and provisional driver’s license violation.
   Officers responded to an unknown disturbance in the area of Route 133 at 12:38 a.m. June 25. The investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle and his passenger became involved in an argument, police said. During the argument the driver pulled to the side of the road.
   Upon the arrival of officers it was determined that the defendant was driving the vehicle during the argument. The driver, Jose T. Villafuerte-Castaneda, 32, of Windsor Castle Apartments was observed to have bloodshot and watery eyes and had difficulty maintaining his balance, police said. The defendant was given field sobriety tests, which he failed.
   He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and later released pending court action. Mr. was charged with Villafuerte-Castaneda driving while intoxicated reckless driving, careless driving and uninsured motor vehicle.
   An officer conducted a motor vehicle stop after observing a driver of a vehicle not wearing his seatbelt on Route 130 at 2:35 p.m. June 25, police said. During the motor vehicle stop the defendant, Akee Moko, 26, of Jackson claimed to not have his driver’s license with him and he provided a false name to the officer, police said.
   Police stated that this false information was revealed and the defendant was arrested for providing false information and an unrelated outstanding traffic warrant.
   Mr. Moko was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after making a court appearance with the East Windsor Municipal Court.
   He was charged with hindering apprehension, obstruction of justice, failure to wear seatbelt and driving while suspended.
   An unnamed complainant reported that someone cut a hole in the top of a convertible vehicle on Jamestown Road sometime overnight with a sharp object between 6 p.m. June 24 and 10 a.m. June 25, police said.
   On Route 130 at 9:32 p.m. July 26 officers responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 130 and Route 571. Witnesses stated that one of the vehicles was attempting to leave the scene of the accident, police said.
   Upon police arrival two vehicles were found to have been involved in the accident. According to police, the vehicle that had attempted to leave the scene had become disabled in a nearby parking lot.
   Police said the driver of that vehicle, David P. Koch, 44, of Weston, Florida, was observed to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, his eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he slurred while speaking. He was given field sobriety tests, which he failed.
   He was arrested and transported to police headquarters, police said. Mr. Kock provided breath samples and was issued his complaints.
   Mr. Kock was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, open container of alcohol in vehicle, failure to observe traffic signal, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, failure to report motor vehicle accident and failure to maintain lane.
   He was later released pending court action.
