Summer reading club registration continues throughout the summer.
Readers of all ages will “explore the night” this summer, with club activities ending Sept. 8.
Participants will take part in raffles, trivia questions and activities throughout the summer. Stop by the Youth or Adult Services Desk to join.
Reading clubs offered are:
”Read with Me” preschool club (birth through age 4).
”Dream Big Read” school-age club (entering kindergarten through grade 5).
”Own the Night” teen club (entering grades 6 through 12), and
”Between the Covers” adult club (18 and older).

Indian cooking Learn how different aromatic spices make this cuisine so tasty and satisfying. A $3 fee is required at the door. Thursday, July 5, at 7 p.m.
Friday night movie “The Artist,” the Academy Award-winning film for Best Picture in 2012, will be shown July 6 at 7 p.m.
Friends of the Library book discussion: Read “Whistling in the Dark” by Lesley Kagan and talk about on Tuesday, July 10, at 7:30 p.m.
Raritan Valley Community College information session Stop by the RVCC table in the foyer of the library’s hallway to meet a college representative. Wednesday, July 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the library foyer.
Doo-Wop era revisited Musicologists Charlie and Pam Horner, authors of “Under the Street Lamp: Tales from the Doo-Wop Era,” will trace the growth of rock music from the 1950s. Personal accounts recalling groups will be augmented by a multimedia presentation of photographs, rare recordings and sheet music. Tuesday, July 17, at 7 p.m.
Afternoon movie “Big Miracle,” starring Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski, will be shown on Wednesday, July 18, at 1:30 p.m.
So You Want To Be A Fiction Writer Local author Chris Redding will lead a writer’s workshop, “Layering: It’s Not Just For Cakes.” You will construct a scene from the ground up by coordinating story elements, and working with two pages of dialogue to transform your draft into a fully functioning scene. Thursday, July 19, at 6:30 p.m.
Here are programs for youngsters. Registration is required.
Cosmic Tie-Dye (entering grades 6-12) Bring a black cotton T-shirt to make a cosmic creation using the bleach method. This project is not limited to shirts; feel free to bring dark socks, pillowcases, tote bags, etc.
Note: We will be using diluted bleach. Wear clothes that you would not mind getting stained. Saturday, July 7, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Kindermusik (newborn to 3) Join Ms. Jenni for entertaining music that helps a child develop language, literacy and social and listening skills. Monday, July 16, at 10 a.m.
Night Shivers! (entering grades 3-5) Stories, crafts and activities on monsters under the bed, creaking doors, shadows on the wall, thunderstorms and scary stories. Monday, July 16, at 3 p.m.
Rhyme Time (newborn to 24 months) Twenty minutes of nursery rhyme fun. Tuesday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m.
Magic show (entering grades K-5 only and adults) Harry Houdini, the son of poor immigrants who was inspired by a borrowed book, dedicated himself to becoming the world’s greatest magician. With magic, motivation and fun, Patrick Garner will entertain, educate and inspire. Tuesday, July 17, at 4 p.m.
Story and craft (ages 2-6) Listen to Maurice Sendak’s “Wild Thing” and create something to take home. Wednesday, July 18, at 10 and 11 a.m.
Surviving the Zombie aocalypse (entering grades 6-12) Would you survive the zombie apocalypse? Test skills in zombie defense, craft mini-versions of the walking dead, and make zombified cupcakes in adecorating contest. Receive a double entry for door prize if you come dressed as a zombie! Wednesday, July 18 at 5 p.m.
Summer storytime (ages 2-6) Listen to “Animals at Night.” No registration required. Thursday, July 19, at 10 a.m.
Preschool of Rock (ages 3 and older and adults) Children will discover, improvise, perform and have fun as they rock out. Thursday, July 19 at 3 p.m.
