MANVILLE: Police blotter for week of June 25-July 1

   A Lincoln Avenue woman came to headquarters at 2:28 p.m. on June 25 and said a $160 check, which she did not authorize, had been cashed from her bank account. Police found the check had been endorsed by her 25-year-old son. The incident was logged.

   Randall Opie Jr., 27, of Bridgewater was charged with shoplifting at 4:58 p.m. on June 25 after a security officer at Wal-Mart on North Main Street detained him. Mr. Opie was released after posting $500 bail.

   Police received a call about two suspicious men possibly tampering with a vehicle on Roosevelt Avenue at 10 p.m. on June 25. The men left before police arrived.

   On June 26 at 6:57 a.m. a Colorado Avenue resident reported someone damaged her basketball hoop. Police valued the damage at $100.

   Nassau County (N.Y.) Police called at 9:28 a.m. June 26 to say they found a stolen license plate Manville police had entered into the national crime registry on March 22. Police took the item out of the registry and notified the owner.

   A Raritan Avenue resident reported a suspicious man offering home improvement services on June 27 at 8:02 a.m. Police logged the report.

   Walmart Asset Protection Manager Lee Moore reported seven PlayStation 3 controllers, valued at $54 each, were taken on June 26 around 5:30 p.m. from the North Main Street store. Police are investigating.

   A woman came to headquarters on June 27 on 2:53 p.m. to report being followed by a vehicle in the Walmart lot between June 10 and 22. She gave police a license plate number. She was given a citizen complaint form.

   A South 17th Avenue man came to headquarters on June 27 at 5:50 p.m. to report his cell phone, valued at $75, had been taken. He gave police the name of someone he suspected. Police will investigate.

   Suzanne Reynolds, 54, of Princeton was transported to Somerset Medical Center with chest pains after she was involved in a car accident on South Main and Wilhousky streets at 8:34 a.m. on June 28.

   Police received a call on June 28 at 10:20 p.m. about ATV riders along the train tracks on North 13th Avenue. Police checked the area but did not find anybody.

   Kids were playing basketball at 10 p.m. on June 28 at the Roosevelt School, a caller said. Police sent the players on their way.

   A caller at 5:12 a.m. said that $14 worth of bread was taken from DJ’s Deli on South Main Street on Friday.

   A CSX train struck an unoccupied van that was along the tracks on Saturday around 7:20 a.m. .

   A Hillsborough man who was unresponsive, but breathing, was taken to Somerset Medical Center after police responded to a call about a man in a suspicious vehicle on Sunday around 3:30 a.m. .

   Two men were charged with fighting on Dakota Street on Sunday at 9:15 p.m. Andre White, 37, and Hakim Bankston, 36, both of Manville were charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Bail was set at $1,000 and they were taken to Somerset County Jail.
