Police said a truck driver from Ocean County apparently died after suffering a medical condition and pulling his rig off the road June 29.
The 41-year-old driver, who police did not identify, worked for a trucking company in Old Bridge.
According to police, several motorists called police around 8:24 a.m. June 29 to report a truck up against the guardrail on Route 130 north about a half of a mile south from the Deans Rhode Hall Road intersection.
The driver was not responsive when officers arrived on the scene with EMS workers and paramedics, according to police.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
”It appears the man realized he was having a problem and steered his vehicle to the side of the road. His actions avoided injuries to any other motorists,” Sgt. Ken Drost of the Traffic Safety Bureau said.
An autopsy was scheduled for last week, according to police.
Traffic was limited to one lane in the vicinity of the incident, police said.
