Ready for a memorable mid-summer Sunday?
The Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association is teaming with Eno Terra Restaurant for a “Taste of Place” celebration on July 15 from 2-6 p.m., rain or shine.
The outdoor venue on the Kingston-Princeton border is virtually in Eno Terra’s backyard: Kingston Locke, a bucolic setting on New Jersey’s Route 27 where the Delaware and Raritan Canal adjoins the Millstone River — a source of drinking water for over 1.5 million Jersey residents.
The family event combines live music, games and arts and crafts for children with wood-fired grilling, outdoor dining and farm fresh, locally produced foods that define the “Taste of Place” concept.
”Want authentic cuisine?” asked Carlo Momo, of the Terra Momo Restaurant Group. “Eat local. That’s the essence of ‘Taste of Place.’ But to be truly authentic, nature’s bounty has to be experienced in its local context and vernacular with local foods, local customs and local labor.
”For my brother Raoul and I, our inspiration and sensibilities are regional Italian. They reinforce our need to celebrate local farmers and growers. Our local farmers could not produce such exquisite foods without pure water and sunshine. What better reminder how vital the Watershed Association is to all of us?”
”We have a special tradition to thank them for all they do to help keep the water of central New Jersey clean and pure for everyone,” said Raoul Momo. “Once a year, when the farm fresh summer produce and grass-fed beef are at their finest, we invite everyone to feast outside with us to support the Watershed Association. We feel there is no more noble environmental cause.”
The SB-MWA is located on a 930-acre reserve in Hopewell Township. Its hiking trails and environmental nature programs have been offered to New Jersey residents of all ages since 1949.
”We have always been humbled, grateful and delighted at this show of vital support from the Terra Momo Restaurant group,” said Jim Waltman, executive director of the association.
”Their food is amazing and ‘Taste of Place’ is so much fun for everyone involved! The Watershed has special reason to celebrate this year, as we will be breaking ground on a new LEED Platinum environmental center later this fall. When completed, our center will be a teaching model for environmental innovation and responsibility and will exemplify the philosophy of The Terra Momo Restaurant Group — the sumptuous joys of a well-stewarded earth,” Mr. Waltman said.
Costs are: $49 per adult (includes two drink tickets); $15 per child under 12; free under 5.
