A woman from Hightstown was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams on Route 33 at 8:45 a.m. June 6.
Astrice Michael, 23, was stopped for not wearing a seatbelt when the officer noticed a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in her vehicle, police said.
Ms. Michael also was charged with failure to wear a seatbelt and having drugs in a motor vehicle. She was released without bail.
A 54-year-old man was charged with shoplifting at Target on June 6 at 6 p.m.
Chandraka Patel, of The Orchard, was observed placing clothing and electronics, worth $145.44, into a shopping bag, then attempting to leave the store, according to police.
He was released without bail.
Police said five unlocked vehicles were entered during the nights between June 6 and June 9.
Four GPS units were stolen along with $100 cash, a pair of prescription glasses worth approximately $200 and a cell phone charger worth approximately $20 from the vehicles located on Heathwood Drive, Pebble Road and Cherrybrook Lane, police said.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with possession of marijuana at the Twin Rivers Mall at 8:21 p.m. June 8.
An officer said he noticed two individuals conducting a hand-to-hand drug transaction, according to police.
The boy was turned over to a parent.
A Manville man was charged with drunken driving on Route 130 near Dutch Neck Road at 2:40 a.m. June 9.
Daniel Brabec, 36, was stopped after an officer noticed him driving erratically, police said.
Mr. Brabec also was charged with reckless driving, careless driving, speeding, failure to maintain lane, failure to keep right, unsafe lane change and failure to signal. He was released without bail.
Police said a utility truck was entered forcibly while it was parked in the lot of the Days Inn between 10 p.m. June 9 and 6:20 a.m. June 10.
Tools worth approximately $614 were stolen.
A 22-year-old Ewing resident was charged him with possession of marijuana at 11:12 p.m. June 9.
Martin Anim-Danso was parked outside the Mercer County Library when an officer noticed him rolling a marijuana cigarette, according to police.
He was turned over to Willingboro police on an outstanding warrant.
A group of young adults were charged with possession of drugs in a motor vehicle on Lake Drive at 3:34 p.m. June 10.
Matthew Jean-Louis, 20, Gregory Goldstein-Boehm, 18, and James Cannon, 20, were in the car when it was stopped for illegal tinting of the taillights and brake lights as well as the windows when the officer detected the smell of marijuana, police said.
Officers found a partially smoked marijuana cigarette and several empty small baggies of a type frequently used to package marijuana, police said.
Each of the occupants was charged with possession of drugs in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A man was charged with resisting arrest Monday at 8:17 p.m.
Thomas Cognato, 42, of Fairfield Road, had been harassing the complainant and would not let his juvenile daughter leave the residence, according to police.
Mr. Cognato was intoxicated and violent and physically attempted to resist arrest, police said. He also was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment and released without bail.
A resident of Dennison Drive reported that three separate packages, which were delivered to her front door during the day June 12, had been stolen.
The packages were valued at $410.
Hightstown
A man from Rome, Georgia, was arrested June 10 at 11:35 a.m. on a warrant issued by Hightstown Borough Municipal Court.
Melvin Johnson, 42, failed to appear on a traffic warrant in 2007, police said. He was taken to the Mercer County Adult Correction Center in lieu of bail.
Two men were charged after police received a report of people intoxicated in a vehicle.
David Anselmo-Ubaldo, 24, of South Main Street, Hightstown, and Juan Madera-Santos, 33, of Windsor Castle, East Windsor, were intoxicated and uncooperative, according to police.
Mr. Anselmo-Ubaldo was drunken charged, drunken driving in a school zone, refusing to submit to breath tests, driving while suspended, driving while suspended as a result of a prior drunken driving conviction, unlicensed driving, careless driving and failure to exhibit a driver’s license.
Mr. Madera-Santos was charged with possession of a fraudulent driver’s license and breach of peace.
Both men were released without bail.
The Police Department is accepting resumes for a police officer.
Applicants must possess current New Jersey Police Training Commission certification from an accredited police academy, a valid New Jersey driver’s license and meet all qualifications of N.J.S.A. 40A:14-118 et. seq.
Preference will be given to candidates with a four-year college degree or at least two years of active military service with honorable discharge or two years prior law enforcement experience, plus either a two-year college degree or 60 credits or at least four years of active military service with an honorable discharge or candidates fluent in both English and Spanish or experienced officers who are employed or recently were laid off in good standing.
