Har Sinai Women Unite for Annual Red Tent Service
Hopewell Twp. – Every summer, the Sisterhood of Har Sinai Temple holds a unique bonding Shabbat on Baldpate Mountain.
Steeped in tradition and called the Red Tent Shabbat Service, the evening event gives women a chance to enjoy a picnic dinner, hike up the easy to climb mountain, join in a short service and then walk back down to a red tent for an "Oneg" dessert.
This year, the Red Tent service at Titusville’s Baldpate Mountain on Fiddler’s Creek Road will take place July 13 from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with a rain date set for July 20. The cost is $10 per person (includes dinner and dessert) and reservations are necessary by calling the temple at (609) 730-8100 as soon as possible.
The hike takes about 30 minutes and requires only average stamina, with the exception of a short section of "rock stairs". An easier route by car or foot is available along a paved road. Comfortable shoes, a jacket, and either a blanket or folding chair to sit on are recommended.
