Candidate Urges Selection of Best-Qualified Individual To Fill Hillsborough Township Administrator/Clerk Position

By Robert P. Baker
In response to the announcement of the retirement of Michael Merdinger as Township Administrator/Acting Clerk in August, Michael Goldberg, one of the Democratic Candidates for Hillsborough Township Committee issued the following statement:
“It is in the best interest of the residents of Hillsborough that the new Township Administrator/Clerk be the absolutely best possible candidate available for the position. At the very minimum, qualifications should include direct experience in a similar role in a similar sized community and the individual should currently hold all necessary certifications required for the position. The current holder of the position was forced to call himself ‘Acting Clerk’ as he did not have the certifications.”
“The position is too important for on the job training,” Goldberg continued. “I would hope that a thorough search would lead to a remarkable individual being brought in to lead our Township’s administration.”
“My best wishes to Mr. Merdinger on his retirement,” Goldberg concluded.
