MONTGOMERY A total of six fire companies combated a brush fire that engulfed about a half acre of property on a Belle Mead farm on July 11.
Both Montgomery fire stations and the police arrived at the farm that borders Rosewood Court at 644 Route 533 at 4:10 p.m. When they arrived, police said there was a half-acre of burning trees surrounding a large stack of cut trees also engulfed in flames.
Due to the size of the fire, firefighters from Rocky Hill, Hillsborough, Griggstown and Hopewell arrived to provide mutual aid. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service and Montgomery Township Rescue Squad also responded.
After nearly four hours, the firefighters were able to contain and put out the fire. Police said the fire departments began leaving around 8 p.m.
The fire did not damage any dwellings or residential property and there were no injuries, according to police.
The Montgomery police and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
