The Neshanic Garden Club has honored Frieda Miller as club recipient of its 2012 Perennial Bloom Award by planting a “Knock-out” rose bush in front of its Station House meeting place in Neshanic Station.
After moving to Neshanic Station from Bayonne, she joined the club in 1969. She held office as club president in 1975 and again from 1983 to 1985 as well as holding every other office at least once if not many times more.
She also became a master gardener and served on its board.
Her late husband, Oliver, was a member and past president of the club as well.
She recently moved to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to be near her daughter.
Some of Ms. Miller’s achievements include co-chairing the club’s 1991 Flower Show; receiving a certificate of recognition in 1995 from the National Council for her many years of service to the club; receiving the Status of Gardening Consultant Emeritus from the National Garden Club Inc.; and presenting a study for the club, titled “Gardening Wisdom,” in 2010.
The Perennial Bloom Award was given to Ms. Miller in appreciation of her many years of service and contributions to the club.
President Janet Gibson said, “Many of our best loved flowers are perennials that spring up afresh year after year, making an outstanding contribution to the beauty of our garden. We feel Frieda has been like a faithful perennial, making our club grow and bloom just like the perennials in our garden.”
