LAWRENCE: Day care center plan hearing rescheduled

The public hearing on a minor site plan application to convert a single-family house into a day care center at 22 Fackler Road — on the corner of Fackler Road and Princeton Pike — has been rescheduled for the township’s Planning Board Aug. 20.
The Planning Board was set to hold the public hearing Monday night, but applicant Asim Mufti requested the postponement in order to modify the proposed site plan in response to comments from the township’s planning consultant, according to Municipal Engineer James Parvesse.
A day-care center is considered a conditional use in the environmental protection-2 residential zone. The proposal meets all of the conditions for a conditional use, except for parking lot landscaping for the 13-space parking lot.
The minor site plan application calls for renovating the garage and creating an infant room in it, and also for opening up the first floor of the house and reconfiguring it into three day care classrooms. There would offices on the second floor.
There could be as many as 65 children enrolled in the day care center.
