MANVILLE: Police blotter, week of July 9-15

   Albert Tomaszfski of Manville was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia and a woman was charged with possession of a syringe following a police investigation on July 9 at 12:41 p.m. on South 7th Avenue. Both people were released on their own recognizance.

   A caller said that two men were having an argument near West Frech and Bound Brook avenues on July 9 around 10 p.m. Robert Ortiz III, 36, of Branchburg was charged with simple assault and resisting arrest.

   Wal-Mart Security Officer Thomas Bennett reported having a shoplifter in custody on July 9 at 10:57 p.m. Police responded and arrested the man, who allegedly stole $369.76 worth of fishing equipment. He was released on $500 bail.

   Four pairs of sneakers and four jackets were taken from a woman’s Kennedy Boulevard apartment on July 10. Police received a call at 1:34 a.m. and are investigating the incident.

   An anonymous caller reported a man was sleeping in a vehicle parked in Rich’s Towing parking lot on July 10 at 6:49 p.m. at South 13th Avenue. Police requested an ambulance for the man.

   Two camp counselors from Sacred Heart Church walked into police headquarters on July 10 at 7:54 p.m. to tell police they are concerned a woman is watching the children from her car during day camp. The incident was logged in the blotter and will be followed up.

   On July 10 at 10:27 p.m. a woman reported almost $300 in jewelry was stolen from her home on North 8th Avenue. She told police whom she believed took her property.

   On on July 11 at 5:48 p.m. an anonymous caller reported an argument between two people on South Main Street. Both people were sent back to their homes and advised of their rights.

   Police received a call at 10:11 p.m. on July 11 saying kids were playing basketball at Roosevelt School. An officer responded and the kids were told to leave.

   A caller reported on July 11 at 11:57 p.m. that a suspicious person screaming in an unknown language on Brooks Boulevard. Police responded and said the man was praying to Buddha.

* * *

   A woman called the police at 6:19 p.m. on July 12 to report her car was struck by another vehicle while she was at the Adesa Auto Auction on North Main Street. The incident was logged as a hit-and-run.

   Police received multiple calls around 2:30 a.m. Friday from people complaining kids were playing basketball at Roosevelt School. Police responded and sent the kids on their way.

   The loss prevention officer at the Wal-Mart on North Main Street took a 29-year-old woman into custody for allegedly attempting to steal $95 worth of baby clothing and reported the incident on July 13 at 5:07 p.m. The woman was charged with shoplifting and released after posting $500 bail.

   Andrea Cristen Tilghman, 29, of Parkersburg, W.Va., was charged with driving while intoxicated on Rosalie Street on Saturday at 12:30 a.m. after Franklin Township police warned Manville officers of an aggressive driver heading their way.

   A man reported at 6:53 p.m. on Saturday that five kids in a black Jeep were asking customers going into Cyburt’s Liquors on South Main Street to buy beer for them. The Jeep was gone when officers arrived.

   Freddy Romero, 37, of Bound Brook was charged with driving while intoxicated on Saturday at 7:19 p.m. An officer pulled him over into the QuickChek parking lot. He was released to a family member.

   Police received a call on Sunday at 11:09 p.m. saying a black pick-up truck struck two parked vehicles on Angle Avenue. Truck driver Dainer Masis-Gamboa, 29, of Angle Avenue, was charged with driving while intoxicated, obstruction, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was released after posting $1,500 bail.
