Fencing tournaments to raise funds for burned puppy

Bucks County Academy of Fencing will hold a fundraiser during two July fencing tournaments to help cover expenses for the surgery and care of Hercules, a deliberately burned, 4-month-old stray.
Set on fire and left to die, the puppy received severe burns on over 75 percent of his body. Hercules is in the care of Animal Alliance and receiving treatment at Crown Veterinary Specialists in Lebanon.
To aid Animal Alliance with the costs of treating Hercules, BCAF will donate a portion of each fencer’s entry fee, plus proceeds from snack and pizza sales during the July 22 Mixed Foil Open tournament at BCAF-West, 1713 Bethlehem Pike, Hatfield, Pennsylvania, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; and the July 29 M/W Div II Epee tournament, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at BCAF-Lambertville. 287 S. Main St.
Private donations also will be accepted. Tax-deductible donations can be made calling 818-1952 or online through Animal Alliance’s website at www.animalalliancenj.org.
”We’re very disturbed by this horrific crime,” said Animal Alliance of New Jersey Executive Director Anne Trinkle. “Hercules is the fourth pet in six weeks to be the victim of burning in Philadelphia. Hercules suffered extreme burns on his legs and back and remains in serious condition.”
