Mandatory water restrictions will be in effect Tuesday (July 24) and Wednesday (July 25) in 19 communities in the region.
Beginning 7 p.m. on Tuesday, NJAW will begin emergency repairs on a 60-inch water transmission main in Manville that distributes water to 19 municipalities in four counties.
”The company anticipates that repairs will last for 24 hours and asks customers to conserve and curtail outdoor water use until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25,” said a NJAW spokesman.
”Plans to repair the main began last Thursday evening (July 19) when a small leak was found on the transmission line. During repairs, NJAW will need to take the transmission main out of service. Capacity of the company’s water distribution system will be reduced. However, no impact to customers’ water service is anticipated,” said the spokesman.
Customers in the following municipalities served by the water main are being asked to conserve water: Branchburg Township, Bridgewater Township, Cranbury Township, Flemington Borough, Hillsborough Township, Hopewell Borough, Jamesburg Borough, Lawrence Township, Manville Borough, Millstone Borough, Montgomery Township, Plainsboro Township, Princeton Borough, Princeton Township, Raritan Borough, Raritan Township, Readington Township (in part), Somerville Borough and West Windsor Township.
