Tomato Tastings Party at Emeritus

Tomato Tastings Party at Emeritus

Tomatoes from Emeritus’s Memory Care garden were picked and used to make both gespacho and fresh pineapple tomato salsa, which were then served at a family gathering on July 15th. Residents enjoy being able to garden in the courtyard and in the Memory Care unit itself. This year they planted eight tomato plants and opted to plant a smaller flower garden.
July is dining services month at Emeritus where culinary treats and food related parties happen daily. Dining staff appreciation is also a main focus. Residents normally cook or bake twice a week, but this time it was using our own tomatoes for this Tomato Tastings Party hosted for Memory Care families.
Gardening and cooking are two meaningful activities that residents enjoy. They are things that we don’t easily forget how to do with end products that bring a sense of pride and satisfaction. Everyone was thrilled to try these healthy new snacks.
