HILLSBOROUGH: Senior Corner column, week of July 26

CHAPTER A
It was smooth sailing on the “Spirit of Philadelphia” on July 10 and the buffet was tasty with a scrumptious dessert. The Reading Terminal Market, operating since 1892, featured a mind-boggling assortment of food and gifts.
All dressed up and in elegant surroundings, Chapter A celebrated its 38th anniversary July 15 with food, prizes, music, dancing and the pleasure of being together with friends. Music was provided by Sparx DJ/MC of Manville.
Chapter A meetings are the first Thursday of each month at the Municipal Building. All Hillsborough Seniors are invited and may join our club at any meeting.
Meetings start at 12:30 with doors open at 11:30.

CHAPTER B
Chapter B members meet at the Municipal Building on the second Thursday of the month.
In lieu of our regular meeting Aug. 9, we will have our annual picnic. This is the first time we are using the Municipal Building for our picnic and the committee has some great things planned.
Tickets were sold in advance — turn in your ticket as you enter to receive your rebate. The picnic counts as a meeting attended. No tickets will be sold at the door. We will also be selling 50/50 tickets at the picnic.
Reminder: On Aug. 9 bring items — books, dishes, household items, handmade items, etc. — you wish to donate for our special dollar sale planned for September. This is our first attempt for this project;, so please help us make it a success. We ask that any items you have donated and are not sold be taken home.
The trip planning committee has had its first meeting and is at work getting ready for 2013.
Anyone interested in signing up for the Oct. 23 trip to Platzl Brauhaus in Ponoma, N.Y., can do so at the picnic. If there are seats left, we will open it in September. The trip includes lunch, beer, soda, cider, dancing and entertainment. Cost is $75.
