Items from week of July 16-22
An Onka Street woman said she had a trapped baby skunk in her yard at about 8 a.m. July 16. Animal control was notified.
A Boesel Avenue woman came to headquarters at 2:20 p.m. July 16 and said she had misplaced a “GPS for Dummies” book, cell phone charger and GPS charger in her vehicle in the period from mid-afternoon July 10 and 11:30 p.m. July 14 between Branchburg, Point Pleasant, and Manville. The estimated value was $160. The incident was put on the record.
Police responded to a call at 6:10 p.m. July 16 from a Haran Avenue woman who said she had an unknown animal in her garbage can. Patrolman Ryan Steier responded and set a possum free.
Many calls reporting a fight between two females outside of Camplain Liquors on South Main Street at 7:19 p.m. July 16 resulted in the arrest of Tyiesa Brown, 41, of Manville for disorderly conduct. She was released on her own recognizance.
At 8 p.m. July 16 a caller reported many kids skateboarding in the parking lot of Christ the King School. Patrol responded, but everyone was gone.
A South 11th Street man allegedly screaming obscenities on Washington Avenue near South Main Street at about 1:30 a.m. July 17 was voluntarily transported for evaluation.
Somerset Medical Center asked officers to check Main Street at 10:22 a.m. July17 for a man who walked out of the hospital with an IV in his arm. Police didn’t find anyone.
Nancy Correa, 62, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged with shoplifting $50.35 worth of items from Walmart on North Main Street at 4:43 p.m. July 17. She was released on her own recognizance.
A Newark Avenue caller said a man opened her screen door and tried to turn the interior door knob at about 8 p.m. July 17. Patrols found a man, 53, on Bound Brook Avenue who said he had gone to the wrong house. Police said the “highly intoxicated” man was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
A North 9th Avenue woman reported someone in a suspicious vehicle with New Jersey plates was taking pictures of her and her daughter at 9 p.m. July 17. The vehicle was last seen on Cedar Street and patrols checked the area. She came into the office and was given a citizen’s complaint form.
A caller at 9:38 p.m. July 17 reported that a Shire Court, Hillsborough, man was struck in the face by an unknown female who then left the property. The man didn’t want to sign complaints. There were no signs of injury.
A man reported a hit-and run of his car with no injuries on Dakota Street at 7:48 a.m. July 18.
A man reported a suspicious cooler on the Raritan Avenue sidewalk with no one around at 10:38 a.m. July 18. Police checked and found no problems; it appeared the cooler may have fallen off a contractor’s truck.
A Semenick Lane woman reported at 11:24 a.m. July 18 that she believed gasoline was siphoned from her vehicle that was unmoved for about two weeks in the parking lot of Gatto’s Sports Café. She wanted it on the record.
Security officials at Walmart on North Main Street said a High Bridge man was trying to return items that did not belong to the store at 12:28 p.m. July 18. Patrols spoke to the man and took the property as evidence, but police only labeled it as a suspicious incident.
A Kyle Street woman called at about 2 p.m. July 18 to say she didn’t believe her neighbors were feeding their pet dog. Animal control was asked to look into it.
A Colorado Avenue resident reported at 5:28 p.m. July 19 that kids were swimming in the Memorial Park pool when it was closed. Patrols didn’t find anyone.
A South 5th Avenue man said at 10:09 p.m. July 19 that he wanted to leave his residence but his girlfriend wouldn’t give him his clothes. Police responded, talked to everyone, the man got his clothes and left.
A woman said that between 10 p.m. July 18 and 2 p.m. July 20 someone entered her North 8th Avenue home and took more than $18,900 worth of jewelry from a jewelry box in her bedroom. Detective Craig Jeremiah is investigating.
A 24-year-old Branchburg man came to headquarters shortly before 1 p.m. July 21 to say he had lost his black leather wallet at Reading Cinema the day before. In it were his Rutgers and other ID cards, $42 in cash and his driver’s license. It was put on the record.
Police quieted loud parties from 10:41 p.m. to midnight July 22 on Duke’s Parkway, North Orchard Avenue and North Arlington Street.
A South 11th Avenue man reported at 10:10 a.m. July 22 that someone kicked the rear fender of his 2008 GMC pickup, causing about $500 damage, in the previous night. Patrols confirmed the damage and it was put on the record.
A St. Mark’s Place man reported at 11 a.m. July 22 that some time in the previous two days someone may have shot the rear window of his house with a BB gun. Patrols confirmed the incident, and estimated damage at $400.
County communications reported a “man down” at Pizza and Pasta at 6:08 p.m. July 22. Charles Degrose, 50, was taken to Somerset Medical Center for treatment.
