SOUTH BRUNSWICK: YMCA thanks local businesses, groups

By Tom Libassi, Executive Director South Brunswick Family YMCA
To the editor:
During the past several months, the South Brunswick Family YMCA as benefited from a number of local businesses.
We’d like to recognize the following businesses and individuals:
A group of 32 L’Oreal volunteers spread mulch, planted flowers, built a stage for Summer Camp and painted the front of our facility. In addition, L’Oreal hosted the Kinder Prep class at its facility where the children built birdhouses.
Thirty students from South Brunswick High School’s Senior Society volunteered at the Y. The group reorganized files, worked side by side with teachers in our Child Development Center, enhanced the new Nature Trail, erected tents for Summer Camp, dug holes for parking lot barriers and much more. As a result of their efforts, the 2012 Senior Society volunteers were selected to receive the Youth Volunteer of the Year award from the South Brunswick Family YMCA.
K&A Excavating of South Brunswick donated the entire cost of expanding the parking lot to accommodate the After School Program and Summer Camp.
Reliable Wood Products of South Brunswick donated 30 cubic yards of mulch and Von Thun Country Market donated 22 flats of begonias.
Nancy Paquette and her team from the township’s Recycling Department spent a day with our campers making paper as well as learning about recycling. It was a nice way to educate the campers while at the same time letting them having some fun. The Grand Falloon’s performance was a nice way to cap off the day.
Home Depot visited the Y to help the campers assembling wooden Penske trucks. It was interesting to watch children follow the directions and use the tools to build the trucks. They had a lot of fun.
Thank you just doesn’t seem sufficient to express our appreciation.
The continued support from our community is the reason the Y is able to provide quality programs and services.
As a non-profit organization, all donations and monetary contributions make a huge difference to our ability to serve you.
   It’s a great day at the Y!
