WEST WINDSOR: Man, woman face burglary, drug charges

   WEST WINDSOR — Four police officers arrested two alleged daytime burglars from New Brunswick in their get-away vehicle on July 25, resulting in a slew of burglary and drug-related charges.
   Michael A. Thoma, 22, and Christina J. Guerra, 20, were caught after a Cambridge Way resident reported a man tried to break into her home and then got into a white Mercedes Benz before leaving the Wellesley Court neighborhood.
   Sgt. Thomas Tarr and patrol officers Brian Geraghty, Melissa Nagy and Dan Mohr responded to the area at 1:44 p.m. where they were able to surround the Mercedes and stop it on Amherst Way. Ms. Guerra, the driver, and Mr. Thoma were arrested.
   Police said around this time, they received another call from a Wellesley Court resident, reporting that his wife had come home and found their house had been broken into via a back window.
   Patrol officer William Knox arrived at the house and found approximately $15,000 worth of gold jewelry was missing, according to officials.
   Police said when they later searched the Mercedes, they found the $15,000 worth of jewelry, burglar tools, more than 30 Oxycodone pills, heroin and synthetic marijuana.
   The two were both charged with burglary, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of burglar tools.
   Mr. Thoma was also charged with attempted burglary, theft, criminal mischief and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.
   Ms. Guerra received an additional charge of conspiracy to commit burglary.
   They were both taken to the Mercer County Workhouse in lieu of bail.
