New Location for Electronic-Waste Recycling

By Somerset County Board of Freeholders
Starting Sept. 8, electronics will no longer be accepted at Somerset County First Saturday of the Month drop-off events at the county’s recycling center in Bridgewater.
Instead, county residents can take electronic waste to Newtech Recycling Inc. in Franklin, on selected Saturdays and on weekdays. This service will continue to be free of charge.
Newtech Recycling will be open to collect electronic waste from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following Saturdays in 2012: Sept. 8, Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 1. The company also will accept electronic waste Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Newtech is located at 600A Apgar Drive, Somerset, NJ 08873.
For more information, contact Newtech Recycling at (732) 564-3110 or visit their website at www.newtechrecycling.com
“This change to the electronic-waste collection program will provide significant cost savings,” said Freeholder Patrick Scaglione, solid waste and recycling liaison. “Instead of paying the vendor upwards of $15,000 a year to collect electronics at the county’s recycling center, the county now will receive close to $70,000 a year from Newtech for electronics that residents drop off at the Franklin location.”
Dates and times for electronic-waste recycling at Newtech for 2013 will be included in the 2013 Somerset County recycling schedules that will be delivered to county residences in December. The 2013 schedule also will be posted on the county website at www.co.somerset.nj.us/recycle/recyclescedule.html in December.
