MANVILLE: Police blotter, July 30-Aug. 5

   Police said they received a call on July 30 at 8 p.m. about a car being driven erratically on South Main Street. Police responded but could not locate the car.

   An anonymous caller told police there was a disturbance on North 5th Avenue at 1:34 a.m. on July 31. Police said they told two people who were being loud to quiet down and leave the area.

   Police said a woman who was doing road repair on South 15th Avenue reported on July 31 at 2:23 p.m. that Danielle Meszaros damaged her tires. Ms. Meszaros said she would pay for repairs.

   On July 31 at 7:37 p.m., an anonymous caller told police, there were people on the Huff Avenue soccer field who should not be there. Police told the individuals to move along.

   A caller reported two dogs fighting on Huff Avenue on July 31 around 8 p.m.; however, the owner had caged the dogs before the officer arrived, according to police.

   Police received a call on Aug. 1 at 10:51 a.m. from a South 5th Avenue woman reporting a suspicious car with a man who looked sick. Police located the car and found out it was allegedly stolen from New Brunswick.
   Giovanni Pepe, 62, of New Brunswick was charged with receiving stolen property, taken into custody and transported to Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail. Police contacted the vehicle’s owner.

   A woman reported on Aug. 1 around 3:30 p.m. that her 14-year-old daughter has been missing for about three days. The woman said her daughter had attended her grandmother’s wake on July 27 and never returned. Police said they believe her father took her. The incident was logged and entered into the national crime information center. As of Wednesday, she was still missing.

   Police received a call on Aug. 1 at 11:30 p.m. about an argument at a residence on North 4th Avenue. Police responded and charged one person with simple assault and criminal mischief when the police arrived.

   A South Reading Street woman reported on Aug. 2 at 5:10 p.m. that a loud noise was coming from the upstairs apartment. One woman there told police she saw another woman throw a plate valued at $400 out of her apartment window. The landlord advised the first woman that she is not allowed on his property.

   Police said they received a call on Aug. 4 around 2 a.m. about a fight near Washington Avenue and South 9th Avenue. Police arrived and took Kevin Woods, 22, of North 2nd Avenue into custody and charged him with criminal mischief. He was taken to Somerset Medical Center.

   Police said they charged Elaine M. Hand, 54, of Manville with driving while intoxicated on Aug. 2 at 10 p.m. A caller who smelled alcohol on her breath reported Ms. Hand getting into the driver’s seat of a car on South Main Street. She was released to her father.
